Digital Imaging
What is 'Digital imaging'
(otherwise known as 'DI')? Just as the name suggests, you will need to
use your preferred software, and morph an image given to you, or create
a new one from scratch. For this event, Adobe Photoshop
although some others use the open-source software The GIMP. Do note
that though both of these (and more) are used in real life, at
competitions you'll be getting Adobe Photoshop 9 times out of 10 (with
an outside chance of getting The GIMP); which means you do need to be at
ease with working on Photoshop.
How should you go about becoming a master at DI? There's no secret - really - otherwise we would know. First, you must know pretty much everything about whatever software you're using. When we say 'know everything', we don't mean knowing your software inside and out - basically, you should know how the major brushes work, how you can change the brightness of the image, etc. Just basic tweaks and tools will do. After that, your work is only limited by your creativity.
